Cling Gel works great because you have to scrub it in order to remove it from the sides of the bowl. Apply, let the windex sit for a few seconds, then use folded paper towel to get rid of nose smudges and hand prints, then spray again, flip the paper towel over to the dry side and wipe quickly to get the windex to dry quickly. The other day I was cleaning a plastic bathtub in a move out clean and I was struggling to get the tiny grooves at bottom of the tub clean. I was on my third bathroom cleaner when I asked myself, “Did I even try a magic eraser?” I ran to my cleaning kit, found the pristine little square of magic, and dived back to the tub and wallah! The tub floor was clean in minutes. I only buy brand name Magic Erasers. I have tried Wal-Mart’s brand before and the cleaning quality is the same but the sponge material is not. They fall apart quickly and then you are stuck picking up all the little pieces after you are done. There is a price difference, but if you can’t tell I splurge on cleaning supplies. Pads These little balls of joy are so handy in the kitchen and bathroom! S.O.S. pads are essentially dried soap and steel wool. My mother used to use these around the house and I rediscovered them when I started cleaning as an adult. They work perfectly for removing cooked on food from gas stove top grates. They are also great for removing grease spots on the inside of hood ranges. The best and most surprising use I have found for S.O.S. pads is for hard water on glass. Tired of my own foggy glass on my shower door, I discovered that this handy kitchen scrubber worked magic on glass! I always use light pressure when I use this tool, but I have yet to scratch glass using this product. I start by getting the pad wet, but not dripping, and run the pad in circles starting from top to bottom. The bottom of shower doors are typically the worst so sometimes its takes a few runs at the bottom. I add water a few times to the pad to keep it lubricated. I usually Windex the door heavily after and wipe clean with paper towels. Then if there are any spots left, I repeat the process. This process is so satisfying! If you have hard water, consider getting a squeegee and wiping the glass clean after showers and you won’t have to use the S.O.S. pad all that often. Did I also mention they are super cheap?! Who knew people could get so excited about cleaning products! Caution: Do not use steel wool on porcelain surfaces like bathtubs or toilets, it will scratch the finish and stain the surface. Always spot test products before using them in a small unseen area. I love using Bar Keeper’s Friend on surfaces like kitchen sinks and tile grout. A little bit of this stuff, water, and a good scrub brush can do wonders! My favorite use is for grout that has been neglected for a while. I get on hands and knees, use a tile brush and sprinkle bar keeper’s friend and some water to make a paste and scrub. This process is a little time consuming and requires lots of rinsing but beautiful grout is the reward! If it has been a while since a wood floor have been cleaned I will use Murphy’s Oil Soap and that usually removes the dirt and grime build up. I would then maintain with Bona. Using sprayer mop with a few interchangeable microfiber cloths seems to work best. Stainless Steel Cleaner: Weiman seems to have the best formula for stainless steel cleaner. Simply spay on and use a microfiber towel, going with the grain, and gently wipe clean. Stove Top Cleaner: Weiman offers two glass stove top products that I keep on hand at all times. The first is Weiman Daily Glass Stove Cleaner. This is a great water based spray to wipe messes after a meal and in-between uses. I spray and use a paper towel to wipe off the stove top. It is inevitable that pasta will boil over or your parter will attempt to flip a pancake using only the pan and FAIL. About once a week I pull out Weiman’s Heavy Duty Stove Top Cleaner and Polish and a razor blade and set to work to tackle the ring of build up.
